Patrick Huyghe is a science writer, whose articles on all manner of cryptozoological animals have appeared in a number of mainstream magazines, including his analyses of the American Northeast cougar which appeared in Audubon, Grover Krantz’s Bigfoot research which appeared in Science Digest and Scottish and Idaho Lake monsters which appeared in Omni. After working on the staff of US and Newsweekly magazines, he began to freelance in 1980. Since then he has written for dozens of magazines, from the New York Times Sunday Magazine and Discover to Psychology Today and Readers Digest.

After a conversation with J. Richard Greenwell of the International Society of Cryptozoology in 1993, Patrick set out to track down the location of the only known evidence of a pygmy elephant. He succeeded and the remains of this rare pygmy elephant were exhibited at the Bronx Zoo and later relocated to a collection of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Patrick Huyghe’s primary work in the field of cryptozoology came in for form of a book he co authored with Loren Coleman entitled The Field Guild to Bigfoot, Yeti and Other Mysterious Primates World Wide. It was the second volume in the Field Guild to the Unknown series which also included The Field Guides to Extraterrestrials, UFOs and Ghosts and Other Apparitions.

Huyghe has taught science writing at the college level, produced public TV programs for WGBH Boston and WNET New York, and written exhibit text for the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey and the Petrosains Discovery Center in Malaysia. He has been a contributing editor of Omni magazine Online and today edits and publishes a twice yearly journal, The Anomalist, which focuses on the mysterious of nature, science and history.
