Old Yellow Top is the name that was given to a sasquatch like creature reported to forested areas around Cobalt, Ontario, Canada. Originally named Yellow Top, the creature matched the physical appearance of a sasquatch with the exception of a patch of blonde hair on to top of its head. The creature eventually became known as Old Yellow Top after World War II due to the apparent age of the beast, which was sighted over a 64 year period starting in 1906.

The first sighting of Old Yellow Top occurred in September of 1906, when a group of men building the framework of the Violet Mine, east of Cobalt, spotted a strange two legged creature. The creature was sighted many times after that including a sighting that took place in 1923 when two prospectors saw that they thought to be a large bear picking blueberries near where they had been prospecting. In an attempt to scare the bear way one of the men decided to throw a rock at the creature. Upon standing up in reaction to the rock, the creature’s true size became apparent, the men described the creature as being covered in black hair, with the exception of its head, which was covered in a yellowish hair.

By this time the name Yellow Top had caught on, and in 1947 a women and her child reported seeing the creature walking towards Lake Gillies in Ontario. Sadly the creature which would be come Old Yellow Top may have passed away after what is considered to be 60+ years of life. The last reported sighting of the creature took place in 1970, when a bus transporting 27 miners to their work site almost hit Old Yellow Top as it crossed the road. The driver of the bus saw the creature in the middle of the road, at first thinking it was a bear. The driver was forced to swerve to avoid a fatal collision with the creature.

Reports indicate that the driver, who was not a believer in the Old Yellow Top story, stated that the creature walked on two legs and was covered in dark black hair with the exception of the blonde hair on the top of his head which he reported went down to the creatures shoulders. For more information on the creature which is most likely the identity of Old Yellow Top, please see the Unknown Explorers section on Bigfoot.
